About the Project: The Muddy Creek (River Valley Ranch) Stream Restoration Project (MCRP) was funded by Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA). The project was to assist SHA with their commitment to meet requirements of the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) through compliance with the requirements established in Maryland’s Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP). The MCRP restored of 7,972 linear feet of stream and associated riparian buffer perpetually preserved within a 13.01 acre easement. Located on Private Property in Manchester, Carroll County, Maryland.

Construction of the MCRP included bank grading, installation of in-stream structures, select stream reach realignment, and the installation of native plants throughout the easement area. Construction began in 2019 and earth work was completed in February 2020. Planting was completed in April 2020. 2024 is the 5th year of the monitoring period. The project streams have native brook trout.  Project partners include: GreenVest, Biohabitats, EQR, and Coastal Resources.
